Study Plan

Master’s Program in Communication Management in Barcelona

The study plan of the Master's Degree in Communication Management consists of 60 credits divided into 9 subjects and the Master's Thesis. They are divided into two semesters, which means one academic year.

The contents of the subjects are structured with the objective of optimally training the student in the knowledge of information technologies and business communication together with the emerging technologies that are transforming the field of communication and the business and social context.

In parallel, the curriculum of this master's degree in communication seeks to equip professionals with the ability to solve problems and work as a team in crisis management. It also aims to improve effective decision making in their professional context and in the internal and external communication of the company, so that they can fulfill all the functions of a communication manager.

Preparatory Courses 

Students entering with any of the degrees indicated in the “Student Profile” will not be required to take complementary courses.

The rest of the students accessing the master's degree with a different profile will have to take the following training complements: 

  • Fundamentals of Business Management, 6 ECTS.
  • Fundamentals of Marketing and Applied Technology, 6 ECTS. 

The number and content of the credits to be completed will be determined by the Master's Academic Committee.

Master’s Thesis

Regulations for the Final Master’s Project (TFM) in the Master's Degree in Communication Management in Barcelona

To obtain the title of Master's Degree in Communication Management from the UPC, the student must complete a Master's Thesis (TFM).

The TFM is a subject of 15 ECTS credits and consists preferably of:

  • Marketing or communication plan in the field of technology and innovation.
  • Innovation project, documentary synthesis or intervention and improvement of the current situation of a company.
  • Research work related to one of the areas of specialization of the master's degree.

The work, which may be carried out in teams of up to three students, will be tutored by a doctoral professor who will guide them. According to the TFM regulations, the evaluation of this will be done individually.
